Your kids will have an awesome time building robots that can navigate obstacle courses and respond to a multitude of senosrs, including motion, touch, sound ... To get an idea of what Mindstorms can do, check out this video, by a guy whose creations include a robotic claw and a robotic card dealer.
In our class, our kids will work with the the LEGO Mindstorms base kit and the new Green City add-on package, which is especially geared for newcomers to Mindstorms. We'll make robots that can navigate mazes, shoot ping pong balls ... and more!
Taught by college grads who grew up playing with Mindstorms.
Class meets for six weeks, one 90-minute meeting per week.
Max: 8 students.
Cost: $110 per student.
Grades 4-7. Preference to Georgian Forest students and alumni.
Areas of exploration: programming, robotics.
Class meets meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Georgian Forest E.S., room TBA, on the following six Wednesday eves: March 23, 30, April 6, 13, 27, May 4.
